Possible Existence of an Extraordinary Phase in the Driven Lattice Gas
We report recent simulation results which might indicate the existence of a
new low-temperature "phase" in an Ising lattice gas, driven into a
non-equilibrium steady state by an external field. It appears that this
"phase", characterized by multiple-strip configurations, is selected when
square systems are used to approach the thermodynamic limit. We propose a
quantitative criterion for the existence of such a "phase". If confirmed, its
observation may resolve a long-standing controversy over the critical
properties of the driven Ising lattice gas.Comment: 10 pages; 4 figure
This article analyzes three Project Management models that have been successful in their particular execution on ICT projects. Particularly, the authors make an implication assessment of the three methodologies and present a comparison of their characteristics, looking forward to identify how they contribute to the performance of a Project Management Office (PMO), in the context of a technology services outsourcing company. All of this, to realize which method is the best, and then conclude that their mix is an optimal alternative to create value as a provider of technology services and communications
The hotel services and especially middle-hotels important cross internationalization processes of its activity that necessarily require a review of their strategies; it has incorporated new elements that help to understand the greater role that in recent years the hotel markets detected. This paper seeks to determine whether it is feasible and cost effective implementation of new hosting service strategies, advertising, preferences and attractions equipped with high-tech REAL AUDIENCIA HOTEL located in the historic center of Quito. To establish the feasibility of the project is market study to identify and quantify the target consumer. Through an analysis of internal and external business actors that determines the impact on the feasibility of the business
Thermodynamic relations in a driven lattice gas: numerical exprements
We explore thermodynamic relations in non-equilibrium steady states with
numerical experiments on a driven lattice gas. After operationally defining the
pressure and chemical potential in the driven lattice gas, we confirm
numerically the validity of the integrability condition (the Maxwell relation)
for the two quantities whose values differ from those for an equilibrium
system. This implies that a free energy function can be constructed for the
non-equilibrium steady state that we consider. We also investigate a
fluctuation relation associated with this free energy function. Our result
suggests that the compressibility can be expressed in terms of density
fluctuations even in non-equilibrium steady states.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Long range spatial correlation between two Brownian particles under external driving
We study the large distance behavior of a steady distribution of two Brownian
particles under external driving in a two-dimensional space. Employing a method
of perturbative system reduction, we analyze a Fokker-Planck equation that
describes the time evolution of the probability density for the two particles.
The expression we obtain shows that there exist a long range correlation
between the two particles, of type.Comment: 11 page
A comprehensive asteroseismic modelling of the high-amplitude delta Scuti star RV Arietis
We present a comprehensive asteroseismic study of the double-mode
high-amplitude delta Scuti star HD 187642 (RV Arietis). The modelling includes
some of the most recent techniques: 1) effects of rotation on both equilibrium
models and adiabatic oscillation spectrum, 2) non-adiabatic study of radial and
non-radial modes, 3) relationship between the fundamental radial mode and the
first overtone in the framework of Petersen diagrams. The analysis reveals that
two of the observed frequencies are very probably identified as the fundamental
and first overtone radial modes. Analysis of the colour index variations,
together with theoretical non-adiabatic calculations, points to models in the
range of [7065,7245] K in effective temperature and of [1190, 1270] Myr in
stellar age. These values were found to be compatible with those obtained using
the three other asteroseismic techniques.Comment: accepted for publication in A&
Thermal and mechanical properties of W/Cu composite materials for ITER heat sink applications
One of the main challenges in the development of a fusion power plant is the adequate selection of
the materials that will withstand the extreme conditions of temperature, load and radiation. Among
those issues, the control of the heat removal by the divertor is critical, hence the highest heat load
inside the reactor will be found in it. For this purpose, one solution proposed is a novel optimized
water-cooled monoblock divertor consisting of W as plasma facing material and W/Cu composites as
the baseline heat sink material. The attraction of these metal matrix composites in fusion applications
is twofold: the W matrix provides the necessary strength of the composite at high temperatures,
while Cu provides the required high thermal conductivity for efficient heat removal in the cooling
system. In this context, the goal of this study is the characterization of W-Cu composite materials
produced by means of liquid Cu infiltration of open porous W preforms. In order to achieve it, a new
experimental device was set up to test the composites under high vacuum atmosphere while in the
temperature range between 273 K and 1073 K. Tensile and fracture tests in three point bending
configuration have been conducted in this temperature range and atmosphere. Additionally,
micromechanical and physical characterization was also performed by means of micro and
nanoindentation and High Temperature X-Ray Diffraction respectively
A Study of Two-Temperature Non-Equilibrium Ising Models: Critical Behavior and Universality
We study a class of 2D non-equilibrium Ising models based on competing
dynamics induced by contact with heat-baths at two different temperatures. We
make a comparative study of the non-equilibrium versions of Metropolis, heat
bath/Glauber and Swendsen-Wang dynamics and focus on their critical behavior in
order to understand their universality classes. We present strong evidence that
some of these dynamics have the same critical exponents and belong to the same
universality class as the equilibrium 2D Ising model. We show that the bond
version of the Swendsen-Wang update algorithm can be mapped into an equilibrium
model at an effective temperature.Comment: 12 pages of LaTeX plus 18 pages of postscript figures in a uuencoded
